Good Health and Wellness

Health and wellness are frequently interchanged, but they actually have different meanings.  Think about it this way.....they have the same address but different zipcode.

Health means the condition of being sound in body, mind, or spirit, including freedom from physical disease or pain

Wellness is the quality or state of being in good health, especially as an actively sought goal
For example, leading a lifestyle that promotes wellness.  In other words, the difference between health and wellness, in short, health is a state of being, whereas wellness is the state of living a healthy lifestyle.  Health refers to physical, mental, and social well-being.  Wellness aims to enhance well-being.  They go hand in hand with each other.  You need both in order to lead a well-balanced life.

Wellness is a matter of choice.  The choices we make as far as what we eat or don't eat, what we drink or don't drink, to exercise or not to exercise can affect our health in a good or bad way.  We have to develop a conscious mind by practicing habits and behaviors that are based on affirming positive thoughts, health and wellness knowledge, and a commitment to promote self-care.

New Image University wants to encourage you to lead a healthy, well-balanced life.  Choosing to live well and promote a healthy lifestyle can have a positive, long-lasting effect on your life mentally, socially, physically, and spiritually.

Here are a few good habits and behavioral changes to begin the process of leading a healthy, well-balanced life.

*Staying active, exercise, take a nature walk, or just stroll around in your local             department store
*Get educated and take advantage of any free resources and tools that promote a healthy, well-living lifestyle
*Regulate and manage your emotions is key; losing your temper, staying angry or sad most of the time is not great for your health mentally, socially, physically, and even spiritually.  Choose wisely how to respond to certain situations and keep your emotions in check as much as possible for your peace of mind.
*Stay conscious of what you eat.  There's a balance in everything you eat.  It's called portion control.  More veggies, protein, fiber, etc. and less junk food, fast food, and processed food.
*Stay hydrated.  Try to drink at least 2-4 cups a day.  Drinking little to no water at all is not a good health practice.  Our body needs water every single day.

New Image University believes that leading a healthy, well-balanced life gives you the freedom to live and love life.  It makes you feel vibrant, energized, younger, and happier as well as gives you a boost in the self-confidence department.

Together let's make a sincere effort and a healthy, life-changing choice to get out there to live well and do well.  In turn, we will be an inspiration and motivation to anyone who desires to change their wellness status from "umm, what time does the party end?" to "LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!!
