5 Pillars of Strength Devotion - Joy

Nehemiah 8:10 says, 'Then he said to them, "Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

This verse reminds us of the importance of sharing our blessings with others. Nehemiah is instructing the people to enjoy the good things they have been given, but also to remember those who are in need and to share with them. This is a reminder that true joy comes not just from receiving, but also from giving to others.

The verse also reminds us that our strength comes from the joy of the Lord. When we are focused on serving others and sharing our blessings, we are filled with the joy of the Lord and that brings us strength.

In our own lives, we can apply this by being mindful of those around us who may be in need and looking for ways to share what we have with them. This can be through acts of kindness or through more tangible means such as giving money or resources. Also we can spend time in prayer and worship, asking God to fill us with His joy and strength.

Remember, Nehemiah 8:10 teaches us the importance of sharing our blessings with others, and that true joy and strength come from the joy of the Lord. Let us strive to live out this verse in our own lives.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for the joy that comes from knowing and trusting in You. It is our strength. Help us to hold on to that joy, even in the midst of difficult circumstances. Fill us with the peace and hope that comes from the Holy Spirit and remind us of the eternal life we have in You. Amen.
