5 Pillars of Strength Devotion - Love

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." - 1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is the foundation of the Christian faith. It is the love of God that sent His Son, Jesus, to die for our sins and to reconcile us to Him. And it is through that love that we are called to love God and to love others.

In 1 Corinthians 13, often referred to as the "love chapter," we read about the characteristics of true love. It is patient and kind, it is not jealous or boastful, it is not proud or arrogant, and it does not keep a record of wrongs. True love rejoices in the truth, protects, trusts, hopes, and perseveres.

As Christians, we are called to love God with all our hearts, minds, and strength and to love our neighbors as ourselves. This means loving others unconditionally, just as God loves us. It means putting others before ourselves, and showing love and kindness to all, regardless of their race, gender, or background.

But loving others is not always easy. It can be hard to love those who are difficult to love, those who have wronged us, or those who are different from us. But through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can love as God loves, and we can show love in the most difficult of circumstances.

Let us strive to love God and others as Christ loved us.

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for Your love that is so great and unconditional. Help us to love as you have loved us. Give us the strength and the power of the Holy Spirit to show love to all, especially when it is difficult. Amen.
